The Dark Star 3.0rc1 screenshots
It's my pleasure to announce The Dark Star build 38, the first FreeBSD-based The Dark Star build, to be known as 3.0rc1. The earlier FreeBSD-based builds (21 - 37) either were incomplete or not working at all. Enjoy! P.S. I am awaiting DSI 0.3, in order to make the final 3.0 build. N.B. If grave errors appear, I'll release a bugfix series, named 3.1, let's hope we won't need to resort to minor version numbers.

New features: -Autologin now works -Updated Dark Light to R3plus and Metal Widget Style. -Added some programs: GIMP-Print and png2qrgb -Added an package list on the DVD, as well as the source code and a fairly recent snapshot of the Ports collection. It works fairly well on my build station (test bunny?): -Celeron D346 - 3.06 GHz -512MB RAM -NVidia GeForce 6200 LE - 256MB -and an 1GB FreeBSD swap partition that isn't recognized :( On an Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo L The Dark Star 3.0rc2 works, however you will have to go through hell to get X.org working, and it will STILL pick 1600x1200 instead of 1024x768. Trying to change this will kill the X session. Also Internet doesn't seem to work there. It has 256MB RAM and an 1.4 GHz Celeron M and an obscure VIA graphics card. But the (unsatisfactory) X session was actually quite fast, despite the large resolution. And by the way, the LiveDistro article of Wikipedia now contains an entry of The Dark Star. Oh, and I am asking for hosting on OpenFMI.
